Bokpoort
A visit to Bokpoort is ideal for those on a self-drive holiday or tailor-made Will of Africa horseback adventure who want to spend some time on a working farm and learn more about the Boer culture.
Bokpoort lies high up in the Maluti Mountains, in the Eastern Highlands of the Free State. It is close to the border with the Kingdom of Lesotho, near the well-known Golden Gate sandstone formation and to Clarens, an artist hub.
From Bokpoort you will experience exhilarating gallops in the Maluti Mountains and view wildebeest and blesbok during your morning rides. Your mounts will be very fit and sure-footed mountain horses.
You will have plenty of free time to explore the local area, including Clarens and Golden Gate National Park.
During your time at Bokpoort you will stay in typical South African farm-style accommodation. The farm includes a very relaxed bar - one of the highest in the country - where stories can be shared with the local farmers and you will learn more about the Boer culture. Your host at the farm, Christo Roos, is a real character, passionate about his horses and a delight to his guests.
